DESCRIPTION
Tug is a small 17' Opduwer Tug boat built in estimated 2012 by Van Nederland Boats. Comparatively new opposed from the majority of Opduwers being built between 1910-1940, she is a beautiful collectors item and in perfect running order. Propulsion is by a Nanni 3 cylinder diesel engine. The engine was serviced this year, in 2025.
An Opduwer is a small tug- or towboat that was used in the Low Countries to push barges on inland waterways. Opduwers were predominantly in use in the first half of the twentieth century. During that time the internal combustion engine got adapted for inland shipping. Earlier, barges were propelled either by sail or by towing from shore by horse or manpower. Fitting an engine and propeller to an existing barge was found cumbersome however. It was easier to construct a small tugboat and use this to propel the existing barge. Opduwers were built between about 1910 to 1940. Like this one, a large number survive as pleasure craft.
Tug (formally known as Splodge), is now a beautiful little pleasure cruiser, with enough room for a crew of two. There is a seated cruising position and a seating area below deck, which can convert into a sleeping arrangement.
There is a current boat safety certificate onboard the boat, and the vessel will be sold with original paperwork and a full handover. Feel free to download a specification or a walkthrough video trailer. Please email or see our social media platforms for the full in-depth walkthrough video.
